Pink Floyd - The Wall Immersion Box

Auch wenn „The Wall“ eines der meist gefeierten Alben aller Zeiten und noch dazu das meistverkaufte Doppelalbum der Geschichte ist, stellt es in der doch einigermaßen außergewöhnlichen Discografie von PINK FLOYD mitnichten das Highlight dar. Auch wenn die FLOYD Jünger jetzt verächtlich ausspucken mögen, aber die Querköpfe rund um Roger Waters und David Gilmour haben in ihrer Karriere auch reichlich unterirdisches veröffentlicht. Der Soundtrack zu „More“, oder die komplett aus den Fugen geratenen Geräuschkulissen auf Seite 3 und 4 (ja, ja liebe Kinder wir reden hier von der VINYL Ausgabe!) von „Ummagumma“ kann man ohne gröbere Magenverstimmung(en) kaum hören. Auch „The Wall“ muss man kritisch betrachten. Gerade wenn man dieses Doppelalbum mit Göttergaben wie „The Dark Side of the Moon“, dem hochprogressiven Debüt „The Piper at the Gates of Dawn“, oder dem FLOYD’schen Referenzwerk schlechthin „Wish You Were Here“ zu vergleichen gedenkt.

Natürlich sind die drei Parts von „Another Brick In The Wall“ das mit Abstand bekannteste auf dem Album, es mutet aber schon direkt ironisch an, dass der beste Beitrag auf „The Wall“ auch der einzige ist, bei dem David Gilmour seine Finger im Spiel hatte: „Comfortably Numb“. Sonst ist das Ganze eher ein Roger Waters Solotrip und – nüchtern betrachtet – nur wenig spannend und in der Karriere der Band dann auch in gewissen Maßen vernachlässigbar.

Die Neuauflage von „The Wall“ kommt in diversen Auflagen daher, als THE WALL EXPERIENCE EDITION mit 3 CDs, als THE WALL 2LP 180g COLLECTORS VINYL Edition, am interessantesten ist aber sicher die 6 CDs und 1 DVD umfassende Immersion Box, die zwar mit schlappen 100 Ocken zu Buche schlägt, dafür aber definitiv Value For Money bietet:

Die Immersion-Version enthält das klassische Studioalbum, digital remastert und als Limited Edition Premium-Boxset mit raren, unveröffentlichten Audio- und Videoaufnahmen sowie einem neuen 44-seitigen, hochwertig gebundenen Oversize-Booklet, einem Buch mit Originalfotos und exklusiven Merchandise- und Faksimile-Sammlerstücken. – für weitere Details zur „Immersion Box“ siehe die Auflistung unten.

Für einen Vinyl Freak, der die Erstausgabe von „The Wall“ als schmuck gestaltetes und noch dazu superb erhaltenes Doppelalbum im heimischen Wohnzimmer stehen hat, ist das aber dann trotzdem kein wirklicher Kaufanreiz, auch weil – siehe oben – „The Wall“, im Gegensatz zu den wirklich außergewöhnlichen PINK FLOYD Releases, eher sehr selten auf meinem runden Teller rotiert.
