September 2020 ihre Debut-EP "Freeze the World" via Golden Robot Records angekündigt.

Sänger Billy Bibby kommentiert:

"Me, Carl, Joe, & Tom (before he left in Jan) have all put our heart and soul into this EP and we are all proud of the final result as a band considering only 12 months ago, we formed from the ashes of our former bands. We feel that over that time we’ve grown our sound into what we now consider the signature HAIG sound for our band and what personally gives us the euphoria feeling when we blast the songs out live to people.

We open the EP on "Never Enough" which was the second single we released, and this one only took a matter of days for me to write fully and be happy with the result. Some take a lot longer but this one did seem to just flow out and it is our heavier track on the EP. But whilst it’s heavy, we also think it has one of the more catchy choruses so we thought, although not an obvious choice as a single, that it would still make a big impact and just show people more what we’re about if you came to see us live too.

The second track up is a slightly grungier number called "Just Like The Others". I had been working on this track before I came into contact with the band but had it been on the side-lines waiting for the right time. I think our sound matched it when we started rehearsing it as a band and it was the first one we properly learnt together. I think the lyrics are more the hook in this song because the title is a contradiction on what the actual song means. It’s about finding someone who isn’t like all the others and what that person’s qualities would have to be for a compatible and good relationship. I was basically wishing for that at the time. Luckily, I’ve found that now, so it makes more sense to me as a song too.

The third track on the EP is the first single we released via Golden Robot Records "Did I Just Make You Smile?", which wasn’t an instant stand-out song when I sent the lads a demo version of it for them to hear. It wasn’t until we got in the studio and put all our instruments behind it that we knew how big and epic we could actually make it. Then recording it with Dave Pemberton made even more an impression on us when we listened back to it for the first time at the sound desk. Although a close call, that’s my personal favourite from the EP and I think possibly the lads too.

The fourth track is "Our Times" and whereas the first song didn’t have as good a feeling with the lads when I first showed them it this one did. It had the ingredients we felt to be the lead single from this EP campaign but in some ways, we wanted to save this little number for the EP and put out the less obvious ones first. This song was actually inspired by the ABBA track "Mamma Mia", believe it or not, I just like the chord progression in that song and tried to work it into my own band’s sound and song. Lyrically, it tells the story about our times in the present and that we should be thankful that we live when we do in a world where we have every bit of help at our feet to get on with life and have a good time whilst we’re here. Along with also trying not to dwell on past events and live for the present with the great group of lads I have now in this band!

And finally, to end on we have "Freeze The World". The title track of the EP and closer. We always finish with this one live, so we thought it only suitable to finish the EP on this track too. I wrote this song a while back and lyrically it’s a little bit of an imagination type song really going into the depths of a sort of muse kind of feel but without the topics of actual space and all that jargon being spoke about. It’s still more down to earth than that but we like the fact that it transcends into something that gets bigger and bigger as the song progresses. Fleetwood mac were also a big inspiration writing this song myself and I kind of look at it as a more aggressive and heavier version of The Chain. If it’s half as good as that song I’d be happy anyway so hopefully we did it justice on the recording!

We all hope you enjoy the EP and thanks to whoever buys and listens it!"

"Drýsill, in Icelandic, means demon.

This is the story of a woman who fell for someone who promised her the world with his smile. She fell captive to his mind games. His intentions were riddled with evil as he fed off of her love. Her humanity disappears as he gains power by mentally and physically torturing her, keeping her locked away in a prison of her own mind. The video illustrates her personal journey through hell as she spirals further into the darkness of captivity until what feels like the end. But one day she is able to gather her strength and use the rest of her power towards the dark to fight her way back into the light. As she kills him with the very shovel he was going to use to bury her with, he is still smiling at her. Laughing at her. Mocking her. This song is about fighting the demons that you allow to control your mind, and breaking free. It’s about rescuing yourself and finding the strength and the courage to be victorious, no matter how hurt you’ve been.

We were excited to work with Kim Holm on this one as we felt he could perfectly capture the dark feelings of despair represented in this story with his art."

Kim Holm ergänzt:

"Depression is a deep dark demon filled cave that I've spent too much of my life in, and as I started finding visuals for SÓLSTAFIR's hauntingly brilliant "Drýsill", life and art seemed to mix in terrible new ways. The lyrics deal with themes of death and abuse that I’ve luckily been spared, but the journey through the underworld seemed to metaphorically mirror each day working on it. I like to believe there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, but realistically it’s not so for everyone. "Drýsill" is a statement that for some, there should be no light. Only the end."

Die Debut-EP "Closer To Death Than Life" der Hardcorer WAR ORPHAN soll am 25. September 2020 via Stay Gold Records erscheinen.

""Autonomous Zone" is a tribute to organized protest. The fact that the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone existed in Seattle for a brief period is a beautiful thing. On the heels of the cowardly murder of George Floyd, for three short weeks an idea became reality. Despite initial aggressive countermeasures by the SPD you did see city, county and state representatives join protestors on the front lines. Even the SPD took a steps to de-escalate. The mayor told Trump’s goon squad they were unwanted. This speaks volumes about the history of counterculture in the Pacific Northwest. The ensuing nightly protests in Portland represent the voice of the region and what we feel is the true voice of the country. Well done Pacific Northwest. Keep up the fight and stay charged."

Die schottischen Alternative Rocker TO KILL ACHILLES haben ihre Single "21:36" veröffentlicht.

Die Band kommentiert:

"We’re excited to present "21:36", a track that deals with the feelings of loneliness and a persons idea of what heaven can be, in this case, the embrace of loved ones who don’t seem to be a part of their life anymore. We urge you to listen to this track and look for similarities in anyone you know, the best prevention for suicide is support, be that support for the people you love."

Die australischen Sleaze Rocker LACED IN LUST haben das Lyric-Video zur Single "Save Me" veröffentlicht vom kommenden Album "First Bite".

Die Band erklärt die Hintergründe:

"Well "Save Me" is a story from touring. It’s really talking about the game of cat and mouse at the bar between sexes. It gets lonely on the road sometimes and everybody needs somebody at some stage. That’s why the L.I.L Woman (Laced In Lust Woman) part is sung, as really without these women and these adventures and even those relationships we wouldn’t have experiences to sing about or develop as people. So overall the song is really a dedication to all our women friends and the ongoing battle of "aex is war"."

"This album is full of blood, sweat, tears, and perhaps some other fluids! It's been one hell of a party. With numerous E.Ps it was the next logical step, but little did we know it was writing itself whilst we were giving it all playing live shows all over the world and meeting the most important members, the fans, supporters, our new friends, which for me is who this album is really for. The events leading up, the love, the loss, the highs and lows, and all the experiences in between are what makes "Bite Me" something I'm really proud of and ready to share with the rest of the world."

Die Progressive Rocker CRIPPLED BLACK PHOENIX haben das Musikvideo zu "Lost" vom kommenden Album "Ellengæst" veröffentlicht. "Ellengæst" soll am 09. Oktobe 2020 via Season of Mist erscheinen.

Justin Greaves kommentiert den Song:

"As the quote goes from Belinda’s lyrics "The dangerous nature of an ignorant mind, the final fall for mankind". This line stands out to represent our feelings on the subject of global and human decline.

Generally people know more of what happens in the world than they’re willing to face, instead they turn away and choose to ignore things that are uncomfortable or inconvenient. Well, we’d like to invite those people to be aware and maybe get some fucking empathy!

As for the song itself, Belinda really took the bull by the horns and wrote some of her best lyrics ever, and her delivery is perfect, along with Vincent who adds his powerful voice to the song. You can hear both voices with genuine emotions.

And the video. What can I say? Guilherme has blown us away with his visuals again. Working with the brief, he understood what we were wanting to put across and obviously connected with it as his video is perfect. It is brutal, sad, thought provoking and kind a tragically beautiful. Personally, I think if you don’t feel any reaction to this video then your dead inside.

It is time to wake the fuck up. It is not about politics or religion or profit. It is about ethics, empathy, and integrity for social and global issues. We are all responsible."

Belinda Kordic ergänzt:

"It is a mad, mad and sad world out there. And excuse my lack of optimism (or not)... it isn’t getting any better. It’s getting far worse. No other living creature on this broken planet exudes such destruction as us humans. The cruelty, lack of empathy and respect for not only each other, but all forms of life.
The saying goes 'live in the now' maybe that is the problem? Who cares about the future if 'I can grab what I want now' with no care in the world for who or what will suffer or die for it? I think we need to live in the future to see where it is is not a beautiful sight. And honestly, I do not envy future generations who have to live in this great big mess we leave behind."
